Repairs & Rebuild

Rebuilding Your Home After Water Damage

How repairs work once everything is dry, from subfloors and cabinets to finishing.

Once the water is out and everything is dry, the next step is putting your home back together. Here's how rebuilding after water damage usually works, and what to expect. Master Restoration works with homeowners in Charlotte, Concord, Indian Trail, Matthews, Monroe, Stallings and Waxhaw.

Drying Comes First

Repairs start only after moisture readings show the materials are dry. Closing up a wall or laying new flooring over wet materials can trap moisture and lead to mold. See how cleanup and drying work.

What Rebuilding Can Include

  • Cabinets: repairing or replacing water-damaged base cabinets, including sink cabinets. We do this in-house.
  • Subfloor: repairing or replacing swollen or soft subfloor sections. We do this in-house.
  • Drywall and insulation: replacing sections that were removed during drying.
  • Flooring: replacing hardwood, laminate, tile, vinyl or carpet that couldn't be saved.
  • Paint and trim: finishing the repaired areas.

Every job is different. After the inspection, we'll explain what your repair plan includes and who does each part.

How the Process Works

  1. Inspection: we find the source, check moisture and photograph the damage.
  2. Drying: wet materials are dried or removed, and readings confirm when the area is dry.
  3. Repair plan: we walk you through what needs to be rebuilt.
  4. Rebuild: repairs are completed and the area is finished.

Timeline

How long a rebuild takes depends on how much was removed, the materials you pick, and whether anything has to be ordered. We'll talk through timing for your home after the inspection.
